Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center in Pinkham Notch celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. GGT (mountwashington.org/) has been “a human-powered recreation destination with activities for all ages and abilities” in all seasons since 1994. During that year’s Christmas week, Great Glen opened its trails and base lodge to the public.

This Christmas week, I will explore GGT’s journey from a vision to a reality over three decades of ups and downs, recovery and perseverance. Great Glen Trails’ history is rich and its operating logistics are multifaceted. I needed two articles to tell its story.
