Peaceful walk along Tunnel Brook Trail

This week, I returned to the Tunnel Brook Trail with my visiting friend Carl. We went there for the first time last summer. It is the kind of place you can sit under a tree on a beautiful day and stay a while.

Carl is a person to do that with. A biochemist who runs a lab at a New York university, he looks forward to his few weeks up here every summer. He loves to walk along rivers and linger by wild ponds. He got the idea to go to Tunnel Brook from Steve Smith, who runs the Mountain Wanderer Book and Map Store in Lincoln. Co-editor of the AMC White Mountain Guide, Smith said that Tunnel Brook is one of his favorite trails.
