Amy Berrier at the border

At last Saturday’s farmers' market in Tamworth, I encountered neighbor Amy Berrier, shopping with her friend Jessie Dubuque, who is well-known as a wildlife biologist at the Saco District Ranger station.

The subject of Berrier’s recent solo hike of the 165-mile Cohos Trail came up. She couldn’t stop smiling. I asked if it would be something for me to write about. Next to her, Dubuque looked directly at me and nodded. She had a rendezvous with Berrrier for a food drop up in the Nash Stream Forest and met later at the First Connecticut Lake. She knew it would be a great story.
