Last Tuesday, I hiked 1.7 miles up the Tuckerman Ravine Trail from the Pinkham Notch Camp to the Huntington Ravine Fire Road and walked another 0.3 miles along that to the Harvard Cabin.

The Harvard Cabin is a beautiful log cabin built in 1962. It is managed by the Harvard Mountaineering Club and open to the public. Its original purpose was as a base for ice climbing in Huntington Ravine. Today, that also includes backcountry and alpine skiing, along with winter hiking/mountaineering up Mount Washington. Its open season is from Dec. 1 to March 31.
