It is that time of year again, and another trout season has come to an end. This year, the end of the season comes with another ending, at least for me. This will be my last Valley Angler.

I have been writing this column for 19 years, and it is time to call it a day. For the last two years, I have been taking a winter sabbatical, with the consent of my editor, and each year he has allowed me to return in the spring.

Bill, I only started reading your column this year, but have enjoyed every article and will miss your suggestions about best flies to use at various locations.

I've lived in Silicon Valley California for the past 20-years and really miss New England. Your stories always made me feel like I was there beside you, just communing with Nature.

My Dad also was a fly fisherman and tied his own flies for decades. I never could get the hang of properly casting, especially dry flies, but always enjoyed seeing people who could ;-)

Hope you 'enjoy your full retirement and have many years of great fishing ahead' :-)
