CONWAY — After two attempts fell short, more than three-fifths of Conway voters Tuesday approved a $9.3 million bond to renovate and expand the town’s police station — a move expected to significantly improve working conditions for officers. The article passed 1,052–620, clearing the required threshold of 1,023 yes votes. More than 60 percent of the 1,702 voters who cast ballots supported the measure. Nearly 23 percent of the town’s 7,447 registered voters voted.

For Conway Police Chief Chris Mattei, it is the beginning of a multi-phase construction process that will unfold while the department continues to operate.
