North Country Anglling - north woods bog

The beauty and nostalgia of a North Woods bog is unmatched. (LESLIE ANGERS PHOTO)

When you have been fly fishing for over 50 years, some places hold a special place in the heart and in the mind. They are the places that taught valuable lessons and built valuable friendships.

The most cherished place is in the Great North Woods. When camping there as a child, we would hear stories from the locals about a remote bog that only the heartiest of four-wheel-drive vehicles could access. There were times when even those vehicles needed a logging skidder to pull the vehicle out of the woods.
