CONWAY — Under blue skies reminiscent of the clear day 24 years ago when terrorist attacks were carried out in New York, Washington D.C. and over Pennsylvania, observances were held in North Conway’s Schouler Park and a memorial walk took place in Jackson on Thursday morning.
Approximately 54 citizens holding small flags given out by event volunteers joined 40-plus first responders at the North Conway event. Ceremonies there began with the presentation of the colors under the supervision of Larry Smith promptly at 8:46 a.m. to coincide with the time that the first plane crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
