North Country Angling - Four wheelin' fishing

Four wheelin’ fishing gets you to some of New Hampshire’s wildest places. (STEVE ANGERS PHOTO)

In 1970, my dad purchased one of the new K-5 Blazers produced by Chevrolet. It was a new breed of four-wheel drive vehicle, and it would provide a cushion of safety as he checked snow-covered roads to determine if they could handle school bus traffic and deliver kids to school.

As his fishing buddy, I had other ideas. Finally, we had a vehicle that would take us into some of the backcountry ponds we had always talked about fishing. Visions of big wild brook trout danced in my head.
