North Country Angler - spot burning

Social media has lead to spot burning of popular water bodies. (LESLIE ANGERS PHOTO)

My fellow outdoor writer, George Liset, opined in his latest article about how his favorite fishing spot was the lead article in a nationwide fly fishing magazine. The story focused on Pittsburg and the excellent fly fishing that is and has been a draw since this angler caught his first brook trout.

I have bad news for George. The Pittsburg cat was let out of the bag decades ago. As one who has fished the ‘Burg since 1966, I can tell you that it is a shadow of what it once was. But we here in the valley know all about how things once were.
