It’s official. Summer is here. Schools are out, people are vacationing and temperatures are rising. Unlike winter, when we worry about frostbite and hypothermia, summer brings another concern — overheating.

As a southerner, I know about heat and humidity. When I moved to New Hampshire in 1977, I was delighted with its cooler, drier summers. That has changed.
