On Saturday, Aug. 16, cyclists will be nervously waiting to conquer the “Rockpile” in the 52nd annual Mount Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb, presented by Tin Mountain Conservation Center. Billed as “the ride of a lifetime,” their 7.6-mile journey, with 4,618-foot elevation gain, to Mount Washington’s summit at 6,288 feet will challenge them all.

In Wave No. 2 (ages 20-34), a young rider who grew up in Jackson and Bartlett will be at the starting line as a first-time racer. His past hill climb experience was as a Tin Mountain volunteer or being “present as a child at the top of the mountain, for the past 20 years with my mother.”
