Black Mountain Ski Area, the state’s oldest lift-serviced ski area long owned by John Fichera, has been sold to Indy Pass and Entabeni Systems. Indy Pass founder Erik Mogensen said the plan is to shift ownership to a cooperative model, where individuals can buy shares for $2,500 to $5,000. Black, like hundreds of small, independent ski areas across the country, struggle to compete against the ski industry’s behemoths, like Vail Resorts Inc., which owns Attitash and Wildcat.

This week’s TeleTalk question is: What changes at Black Mountain would you recommend to help ensure it succeeds?
