Carroll County residents including Lynn Lyman, Anne Cunningham, Louise Webster,  Paul McKenna and Paul Mayer joined state Reps. Karen Umberger and Anita Burroughs in testifying last week before the House Municipal and County Government Committee on SB 249, a bill called “Prohibiting planning and zoning ordinances that prohibit short-term rentals.” Webster, who cleans STRs, and Mayer, a Realtor, spoke in favor of the bill, with Mayer saying it gives towns the muscle to regulate rentals. The others opposed it, with Lyman of Kearsarge saying, “Living next-door to a short-term renter is your worst nightmare.”

This week’s Tele-Talk Question: What’s your opinion of SB 249, a bill that prohibits towns from banning short-term rentals?
