Call it COVID Year 2. Because of the complete shutdown in the spring of 2020, the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic was a shock. But the second year, which started in the fall of 2021 after a summer when most of us thought we were through with it, was equally awful but in a different way. Although we’re all tired of wearing masks, some of us became oppositional, and some people turned mask-wearing into a political issue. It was the same with vaccines. Meanwhile, local schools suffered with periodic quarantining and mandatory mask-wearing, while for businesses, some required masks or proof of vaccination, and some didn’t. Testing evolved from a hospital drive-thru to a stop at the liquor store to pick up a rapid test kit. All in all, it was a slog of a year that tested our patience, our faith in science and the strength of our business and personal relationships.

This week’s Tele-Talk: What lessons have we learned after two years of COVID?
