Conway selectmen have decided to spend about $10,000 in federal money on lighted pedestrian signs at the three intersections on the North-South Road (at Seavey, Grove and Depot streets). Last year, a pedestrian was hit by a car and died at the Depot crossing. Selectmen are calling the signs an experiment and would consider installing them at other intersections. Those intersections have also been dangerous for vehicles and in the last 10 years, about 40 accidents have occurred,. Some citizens have suggested adding four-way stop signs, which would slow traffic and increase pedestrian safety.

This week’s TeleTalk question: Do you think lighted pedestrian signs and/or stop signs are needed at the North-South Road intersections?
