Spectrum subscribers were surprised and dismayed Thursday, Aug. 31, when, just before a major college football game and in the middle of a tennis match at the US Open, ESPN and all the Disney stations (19 total, along with ABC on demand) went off the air. Disney owns ESPN and is in a yet-to-be-resolved dispute with Charter Communications, which owns Spectrum TV). “We do not take this decision lightly,” a release from Charter Communications states and contends Disney is “demanding an excessive increase” for the channels, adding: “For 2023, we had expected to pay The Walt Disney Company more than $2.2 billion for just the right to carry that content.”

This week's TeleTalk question is: Are you staying with Spectrum or cutting the cord?
