To the editor:

Let’s try a different track. Instead of railing about the former president (though his “next Reich” post on Truth Social has me worried), let’s talk about President Joe Biden’s accomplishments.

I did want to sign off by answering the question posed. I am not a 1% and I am not aware of anything DJT has done for me. I also don't approve of Biden's student loan bail out. Reminds me of something my Dad (a life long Democrat) used to say, which went something like this: "None of these politicians are any good but at least when the Democrats are blowing your tax dollars they throw a slice of bread to the working man" (or students). Every time I turn on my TV DJT (a Billionaire) or one of his sons (Millionaires) is asking me for money. DJT recently made an offer to the oil industry executives if they will raise $1B for him, he will do whatever they want...1% they are. And that promising border bill written by one of the most conservative Republican James Lankford of Oklahoma. The Bill looked so good in terms of making a real difference at the border that DJT threatened any Republican who supported it......so we will see it again maybe when DJT is elected. Even Lankford backed down and voted against a bill he wrote. Messed up. Lesser of two evils seems an easy pick here but the polls say DJT will be back in the Whitehouse.

Deja Vu all over again?

“I think that we have sufficient stock in America now for us to shut the door."

"Donald Trump, right? Maybe on one of his campaign stops? "

"The sentiment expressed above is 100 years old, uttered by Sen. Ellison DuRant Smith, a South Carolina Democrat, on April 9, 1924."

The country might soon need to “station a soldier every hundred yards on our borders to keep out the hordes,” argued an article in Wisconsin in April of 1924.

Above are lightly edited quotes from a May 19, 2024 Washington Post OPED about how America has repeatedly panicked as hopeful immigrants have surged to its shores — and tried to find ways to keep them out 2024.

Yes, paying off student loans, or buying young votes. All the same.

Very unfair and a direct slap in the face to those of us who struggled and paid our loans back.

And how many of the forgiven loans go to foriegn students here on educational visas who protested and should've had those visas rescinded and been sent packing back to whichever country tgey came from? But weak, feable joe lacks the hutzpah to act.

Thank you, Walter, for pointing out the truth.

Trump has given me numerous sleepless nights for years.

And also of note, the Biden administration recently allocated funding to all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five territories to deploy affordable, reliable high-speed Internet service to everyone in America under the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Interestingly, states receiving some of the highest $ benefits under this program tend to be rural America, and Trump leaning. This “Internet for All” initiative is a key component of President Biden’s “Investing in America” agenda. NH received $200 Million which will be enough to get broadband to every home and business in the Granite State. Trump on the other hand promises to deliver retribution to those who don't support him.

When you are spending other people's money, it is easy to come up with programs which people support. Sure, broadband for all sounds good. But at what price?

Spending public money isn't leadership. Instead, it is how Democrats buy votes. When you grandchildren are paying off Biden's multi-trillion debt, perhaps they will wonder if all of this unpaid-for spending was worth it.

And while nobody likes the talk about "retribution," given what Trump has gone through in the past eight years, I can't blame him for that. The weaponization of the DOJ, FBI, and rogue judges is just outrageous. Yet when wrongdoing is discovered and uncovered, the Leftist politicians and bureaucrats continue to be protected, or they land a job on CNN. How come the attorney (Clinesmith) who altered a document to get the FISA court to approve Trump campaign surveillance never went to jail?

What about the 50 "intelligence" experts who said Hunter's laptop was disinformation? That probably swayed the election and allowed a very weak challenger, campaigning from his basement, to win the presidency. Just this week, the DOJ prosecutor going after Hunter Biden admitted the laptop was authentic. Very convenient, four years too late (the FBI had the laptop for five years...)

Neither red or blue changes my personal life much, except for the insanely high prices of everything ! Greed has alot to do with the high prices too.

What concerns me the most is the open borders which over burdens all of our resorces and raises taxes. If Biden would slam the borders shut tight, evict all of the illegal immegrants, get everyone except for american citizens off of public assistance, stop giving away free medical services, stop using social security for purposes it was not intended for ( retirement of American citizens only), and consentrate on American citizens only, everyones life would be imensley improved. Prices would come down, taxes would be lower and life would be more affordable.

Then Joe would be our hero.

But bending to the left, especially the progressive left, and shoving the very expensive green initiative garbage down our throats, and allowing palestine to attack, rape, and murder Isreal, allowing russia to attack Ukrain, not crushing the chinese for killing our country with fentanyl, just shows how weak and feable he is.

God save America ! Vote conservative republican in November ! Live free or die !

Hi Walter,

It was refreshing to see you defend the Biden record before going back to Trump bashing. I appreciate the effort.

I think we can all agree that Joe Biden is an excellent spender of public funds. He spent Trillions during the Covid pandemic, so much so that a lot of committed funds have not been spent. Pouring so much borrowed money into the economy has unleashed inflation which is turning out much harder to bring down than the Biden economic team thought.

His recent student loan "forgiveness" plans, in which he violates his Constitutional powers in an effort to buy the votes of those who have these loans, is outrageous. All the Democrats (like Nancy Pelosi) said before this was outside the power of the presidency, yet Joe Biden did it anyway. And this will cause more inflation down the road.

As money floods into our economic system, stock prices will go up, unemployment will remain low, people will have money in their pockets even if goods and services cost more. All this is good...temporarily. When do we pay the piper?

The minute our institutions stop borrowing and start repaying, the exact opposite effect should occur. Unemployment will skyrocket, inflation will go down (because there is less money around), the stock market will suffer, and there will be real hardship, especially on the poor and middle class. If we are going to avoid a complete economic collapse, we will need to stop giving out taxpayer funds to the poor and illegal immigrants, and then we will probably see more riots and more crime than we are seeing even now during a time of theoretical largesse.

So I guess voters who have been given cash by Biden may decide to vote for him again in the hopes that the gravy train keeps chugging, but those with some forethought will realize that borrowing against our children and grandchildren is economically unsustainable.
