To the editor:

We were the beneficiaries for a long time of foreign-born scientific talent immigrating to the U.S. from all over the world. The nuclear scientists who came over in the 1930s probably saved more than a million casualties in the invasion of Japan alone. More lives are now being saved by foreign-born medical researchers working at universities such as Harvard and MIT, both schools being targeted by President Donald Trump.
