To the editor:

Many of us use special days to remember to do certain tasks. We change batteries in smoke detectors when we switch to daylight savings time, perhaps we replace the tattered and faded “old glory” each Memorial Day with a new version of our country’s emblem. Each Flag Day, Post 95 of North Conway American Legion collects old, tattered, faded and otherwise damaged U.S. flags so they may be disposed of in a dignified manner.
