To the editor:

I’m a sports fan. I root for the Patriots, Red Sox, Arsenal (in English soccer) and the Celtics. Passionately following my teams is a foundational part of my life. This is part of what it means to be a fan. For many people, politics is like this, too. You cheer when your side does well and groan when they fumble. The problem is that things are different now.

Good post! I've often said that the current admin has succeeded in polarizing much of the voting population to a level never before seen. It is EXACTLY like spectators picking a "team" - and sticking with it, no matter what. The issues have taken a back seat to rooting for a team - for no good reason. Lack of meaningful insight to the actual history and performance of candidates has never been a strong suit in our country - and now we're paying for that disinterest.
