President Donald Trump is trying to attain trade equity with China, but his trade war is having a devastating impact on U.S. farmers, which could lead to long-term losses of the Chinese market for our agricultural products since they are being replaced by competing countries. The $12 billion farmers subsidy is just a temporary reprieve for farmers.

In response to the authors claims, per the U. S. Department of Agriculture net farm income is forecast to increase $6.3 billion, or 10.0 percent, from 2018 levels to $69.4 billion in 2019. Cash receipts for both crops and animals are expected to rise as well. Median farm income is expected to rise 3.6 percent.
