Just when you thought all the silly ideas regarding wasteful taxpayer funding has been exhausted, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen has come up with something really needed in the name of tourism. The plan is to heat the streets and sidewalks of Berlin.
I have to wonder…would you be writing the same if the Wolfeboro area was getting tgat $20 million. How much “taxpayer” money has gone into improvements in your area? How much money has gone into widening I 93 BELOW Manchester? Meanwhile, roads in Coos County go without needed repairs. Granted, there coukd have been other uses for that $20 Million that would have benefitted Berlin more…like widening Rt 16 and making it the equivalent of 93 along the eastern side of the state! Berlin can’t attract industries with good paying jobs because of the transportation situation! The ONLY difference between Littleton and Berlin is where they are located in regards to location near major highways. Ask any trucker who needs to travel through that crap show of North Conway!
All in all, it’s about time tgat the Great North Woods gets some return on the investment we have made in taxes fir the last two hundred years!

Great thought! Pit town against town and WASTE taxpayer money for this.
We get the government we deserve and it clear that we are brainless and vote without thinking.
Until that changes - we lasts million after million and who cares?! It’s only our hard earned money going to imbeciles in DC.
