To the editor:

Many New Hampshire businesses depend on tourism, and while the coronavirus problem will affect that in the near term, it brought to mind a subject that has occasionally crossed my mind, which is the lack of rest areas along our highways. Driving from Massachusetts up I-95, in short order there is a huge rest area at the state line and then a few miles further at the New Hampshire state liquor store, more opportunity for relief. However, once past that, one has to depend on private businesses, some of whom understandably ask that you make a purchase. From time to time, having lunch at McDonald’s in West Ossipee, I’m amazed by the numbers of people who come in just to use their facilities. Kudos to McDonalds!
