FRYEBURG — Fryeburg Academy’s jazz students will present a variety of classic jazz standards and new compositions at their home venue, the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center, on Wednesday, April 1.

Students have been busy this year performing at local and state jazz festivals, as well as a venue in Portland. The performing groups include Fryeburg Academy’s Vocal Jazz Ensembles (SATB and SSAA), Instrumental Jazz Ensemble, known as the “Big Band,” three Jazz Combos, and the Molly Ockett Jazz Orchestra, known as “MOJO.” Fryeburg Academy’s Big Band and one of its jazz combos recently received a gold medal at the Maine State Instrumental Jazz Festival. The program includes a variety of jazz standards, as well as new works.
