Let's say one day in the near future The Donald gets that "feeling in his bones" and calls the war with Iran over. But Iran says no, it's over when we say it's over and until then we plan on shutting down the Straits of Hormuz. Gasoline, heating oil, inflation in general will go up much more.
Trump and his generals and advisors surely knew the Strait of Hormuz was potentially vulnerable to Iranian terrorism. They've been threatening that for decades. No surprise.
What was surprising was that Iran was willing to attack its fellow Islamic neighbors, many of whom were aligned with the US. Again, foreseeable, but nothing we could do about that in advance. Heck, we are knocking Iran around and still they are able to launch missiles and drones. Again, not a lack of planning. This was a tenacious enemy of America, hell-bent on acquiring nuclear weapons and ICBMs, and Trump was the only president to take them head-on, versus just talking like all of his predecessors.
High oil prices are an unfortunate consequence of having this foe in an energy-rich environment. Imagine the havoc North Korea could have done in the same location.
I do appreciate your willingness to concede the obvious, that this was something that had to be done. Just leave it there. Stop trying to find fault with every single thing President Trump does.
Actually, it's obvious this action was not necessary. We're only in this position because of Trump's idiotic withdrawal from the nuclear treaty with Iran.
Nations like ours have endless planning and contingency plans available to them, and undoubtedly some of them, based on intelligence, predicted Iran would do everything it's doing. It does no good when your "leader" doesn't listen to the experts and bumbles into situations he has neither the intelligence or the patience to understand, but instead acts like a schoolyard bully drunk on his own power.
That's what it's all about with Trump, power and the money power can get him, which is why he immerses himself in graft, corruption, bribery and blackmail to bring him and his family ever more money. He's our first president-for-profit.
