To the editor:On Tuesday, July 27, Doug "Rooster" Campbell celebrated his 52nd birthday aat the Linderhof Country Club. A golf scramble was conducted there in his honor. Trophies for the two winning teams, Nicky I's (first) and Members of the LCC (second), were donated by Glass Graphics of Conway. A large birthday cake with five candles for the decades of Rooster's life and his devotion to the training of the U.S. Olympic Ski Team was presented after the tournament and lunch. The tournament raised $1,500, a small return for all the volunteer work Rooster's performed in the valley over the years. However, with the previous fund raiser at the Grand Summit in June, the fund totals just over $17,000, which will pay his rent and some of the medical expenses. Unable to work, Rooster continues to struggle. He wishes to thank all of you for your loving support. On Tuesday, he went down to Lahey Clinic for a battery of tests. If you see him walking in the village upon his return, stop and say hello. If he needs a lift, try to find time to drive him to his destination. If you weren't able to attend either of the fund raisers and wish to help out, pleaase contact Al Risch, Tom Eastman, or Carol Westervelt to make a donation to The Rooster Fund.God bless!
