With a warm smile, local hometown darling and father of two beautiful children, Josh Arnold took a sip of coffee from a huge white mug emblazoned with a blue Phillips flathead logo on one side and three, blue ice cubes on the other. A quintessential New England do-it-yourselfer, Arnold told me he made the mug himself, delivering a message clear enough: “Screw ICE.”

Arnold was the force behind Warrant Article 26, recommending that Ossipee police terminate 287(g) cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement — an agreement that deputizes local cops to enforce federal immigration laws. Nearly six in 10 Ossipee residents voted to approve Article 26.
