Scott and I decided to brave the throes of an intemperate January on coastal Maine and take our show on the road. Last week we converted his truck to a hound-laden Sanford and Son rendition, drove to Portland and boarded a barge bound for Chebeague Island. By the time the snow arrived we were comfortably settled. It snowed on and off for the better part of three days, and our biggest concerns were keeping dogs exercised/entertained and tending the fire. As usual, the powdery bliss was short-lived. The temperature plummeted and the wind picked up off the ocean, rendering the white fluff an ice-encrusted tundra.
Winter has brought to Maine ice in its many forms, one particularly aberrant. As icicles adorn our eaves, ICE has descended upon the state bringing its unnecessary menu of unconstitutional chaos and heavy-handed tactics while threatening foundational damage to our communities and to our democratic process.
