There's a new-ish "movement" that has entered our cultural vernacular and has been cultivating in the petri dish of our climate of political extremism. "Masculinism" is a socio-political ideology centered on men's issues, but it goes much deeper. Masculinism is not to be confused with masculinity, because it is anything but. This is a movement grounded in fear — fear of feminism and femininity. If this sounds to you like plain old-fashioned misogyny, congratulations on your impeccable hearing. It's that simple. And simple-minded.
At a time in which everything is grounded in airplay — podcasts, TikTok, social media — "shock jocks" like neo-Nazi Nick Fuentes and rapist Andrew Tate have emerged from the bowels of internet subculture and have been actively mining the undeveloped brains and full-blown insecurities of post-pubescent internet-addicted and addled males. Fuentes, Tate and others, also odious and of similar repute, have been preying upon a gender and a generation. As a result, violent extremism among young men has been on the rise for several years. There is a well-documented correlation between violent young men (read mass murderers) and misogyny. Proponents of masculinism hone in on and fan those flames.
