When everything is enormously important, nothing is important. If we work ourselves up to a frenzy with every press conference, every executive order, every news broadcast, we become paralyzed. How do we retain our sense of indignation when everything feels like an attack on our dignity? Here are some suggestions for news segments to ignore so you can retain your focus on things that actually matter.

We wrote the Declaration of Independence and fought a war (two if you count 1812) so we wouldn’t have to pay attention to the British royal family. This dysfunctional group of spoiled brats are essentially the Kardashians with a massive government subsidy. Yet our news channels report on every wedding, divorce, funeral, coronation, baby, illness and tell-all biography as if we care about these people. We don’t — or at least we shouldn’t.
