To the editor:Francis P. Murphy VFW Post 5386 and the Ladies' Auxiliary in Bartlett wish to thank the following local businesses and individuals for their donations and support. With your participation, our First Annual Chicken Barbeque held on Saturday, August 14, was a great success. Thank you to Attitash/Bear Peak, Bear Notch Deli, Grants Supermarket, Hills Florist, Jim Pettengill, Valley Ice and all other members and individuals who made donations. Thanks also to dedication of VFW and Ladies' Auxiliary Members Lloyd Chandler, Dan Dinsmore, Bert George, Dick and Barbara Gonya, Evelyn Bailey, Dianne Hayes, Ellen Hayes, Yvonne Kinsman and Leslie Mallett, who helped make the barbecue actually happen. Special thanks to Karen Grigel and C.J. Valledares for their generous food donations, Tracy Marnich with Bartlett-Jackson Boy Scouts Pack 321 and Bert George for the use of their tents, Steve Canales with Bartlett Recreation Department for the use of their grill, Town of Bartlett for the use of the park which gave us better exposure, Marshal Cassell for providing the dinner music and his roadie Robert Blake. We could not have pulled this off without the extra effort from grill master Bob Blake, who annually mans the grill at Bartletts Fourth of July celebration as well, and we hope he will do the same for the VFW Annual Barbecue. Thanks also to his sous assistant Comfort George. You both did an excellent job!To those who attended and to anyone who missed the barbecue, we hope to see you again next year!
