BARTLETT — Former U.S. Olympic and World Pro Skiing racer Tyler Palmer, 63, of Kearsarge will be the recipient of the New England Ski Museum's eighth annual Spirit of Skiing award, scheduled to be presented at the group's annual meeting and dinner on Nov. 2 at the Attitash Grand Summit Hotel.

“It was a real surprise when I got the call, and am very honored. More than anything else, this is about the town, my friends and family in my path, and my coaches, and fellow racers who got to me where I've come and all I've accomplished,” said Palmer in a recent interview with The Conway Daily Sun. “This will give me a chance to look back and thank everyone. They all really believed in me, and that helped me. The valley was a great place to grow up in and live, and it was a perfect storm of sorts for me to come out of here and be in the Olympics with my brother and David Currier [in 1972] of Madison, and for me to win some World Cups and then to get to race professionally.”
