CONWAY — The school board has scheduled a special meeting for Aug. 16 in hopes of restoring $1.4 million that the state has ordered cut from the budget.

The New Hampshire Attorney General and New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration determined last week that the budget approved by voters in April was subject to a so-called 10 percent rule, which limits to 10 percent the amount voters can add or deduct from the budget.
