Former Conway Police Sgt. William McClellan will be arraigned Wednesday at the Carroll County Superior Court in Ossipee on 11 counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault.Police allege that McClellan had repeated sexual encounters with a 16-year-old girl living under his guardianship. He was indicted by grand jury Friday.Conway Police Chief Sean Billert said McClellan is not being paid by the department. Each charge carries the maximum penalty of 10-20 years in prison. A trail and hearing dates will be set at the Sept. 22 hearing, which will also nullify the Sept. 28 arraignment originally scheduled for district court. Generally a case will come to trail within nine months of an indictment.McClellan, 50, of Green Hill Road, East Conway, turned himself over to authorities on Sept. 1 after the Carroll County Sheriff's Department procured a warrant for his arrest on four counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault. McClellan was charged with engaging in sexual acts with a 16-year-old girl and with using his authority as her physical guardian to coerce her to engage in those acts, reported a Sept. 1 press release from N.H. Attorney General's office.
