BARTLETT — Has a gift for second- and third-graders ruffled feathers within the Josiah Bartlett Elementary School community? Former longtime Bartlett School Board member Scott Grant thinks so, saying that the generous gift of 28 bicycles for the young Bears should have been open to all students.

On Nov. 18, Principal Phyllis Bellemare summoned 27 second- and third-graders, along with their parents and grandparents, to the school gymnasium at the end of the day. Each received a brand-new mountain bike, setting off cheers of delight.
