CONWAY — A new state law banning ambulance billing for bills not paid for by insurance companies is prompting the Conway Fire Department, along with departments statewide, to change emergency service rates to align with what the state mandates health and auto insurance companies pay for various types of calls.

What it means for consumers is patients with health insurance won't be charged for ambulance service charges not covered by insurance.
