CONWAY — 'Tis the season for budget talks to begin. Conway School District officials met with the Conway Municipal Budget Committee for the first time on Dec. 17. The discussion started with the SAU 9 budget but branched into a conversation about better utilizing school facilities.
The SAU 9 Board, made up of the representatives from Albany, Bartlett, Chatham, Conway, Eaton, Hart’s Location and Jackson, approved a $2,761,283 budget on Dec. 11. The budget is up $459,661, or 17 percent, over last year. The chief reason for the increase was a $250,000 move of the technology coordinator and the technician/database administrator (see related story) from the Conway district budget to the SAU.
