PINKHAM NOTCH — The weather gods, coaxed along perhaps by the spirit of the late and legendary Tuckerman Inferno founder Al Risch (1933-2018), provided bluebird conditions for the return of the reformatted 2025 Tuckerman Inferno March 15 after a year’s absence.
“This was an Al Risch kind of weather day — we lucked out, as we found a window of weather,” said Risch’s son, Army veteran Jake Risch of Madison, who served as race director of the event, which this year was brought back following a one-year absence, featuring a new all-mountain five-phased format on Mount Washington, harkening to the origins of the American Inferno of the 1930s.
