FRYEBURG, Maine — Two proposals— one to create a tax increment financing district and another to sell to Nestle Waters North America (Poland Spring) about 100 acres of surplus land at Eastern Slope Airport — have generated many meetings and much controversy in town, including a wide range of opinions, some of which appear below.

Residents will be able to vote on the proposed TIF and land sale on Oct. 12 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the American Legion building on Bradley Street. The third and final public hearing on the TIF will be Oct. 10 at the Fryeburg Fire Station.
