CONWAY — It’s spring in the Mount Washington Valley, and for Mike Petell and Chuck Sutton that means only one thing — time to head to Mexico for the annual running of the Baja Mexican 1000.

The six-day, point-to-point offroad rally race down the length of the Baja peninsula starts Saturday in Ensenada and ends next Thursday in La Paz, Mexico. Over the next week, racers will cover well over 1,000 miles on rough terrain, from desert to mountains to seacoast.
