CONWAY — Brain Hastings, the longest-serving principal in Conway Elementary School’s 63-year history, will retire on June 28 after 20 years at the helm. He will be remembered as an educator who wasn’t afraid to think outside the box and was willing to do whatever was in his students' best interest.

Hastings, 63, introduced the family liaison to the Conway School District a full decade ahead of any of the other local schools; embraced mindfulness programs long before anyone else; and has striven to make the school a safe haven for the K-6 Cougars.
