CONWAY — It was a cold, sunny day for the 17th annual WMWV/Vaughan Community Services Food Pantry Radio Food Drive at the First Church of Christ, Congregational in North Conway on Wednesday, but that didn’t deter community and business members from donating frozen turkeys and nonperishable food items, toiletries, pet food and cash.

The drive was held from 6 a.m.-6 p.m., with local businesses and groups sponsoring hourly broadcasts throughout the day. As of 6 p.m., 731 frozen turkeys had been donated — far exceeding the previous record of 545 frozen turkeys set in 2016 and surpassing their goal of 550. In addition to hundreds of pounds of nonperishable food, community members had donated more than $3,000.
