PINKHAM NOTCH — Mount Washington lived up to its sobriquet as the “home of the world’s worst weather” on Saturday as high winds, rain and cold temperatures forced an 11th-hour cancellation of the 50th running of the Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb, leaving the 635 cyclists who had signed up for the event feeling resigned but deflated.

The race is a major fundraiser for the Tin Mountain Conservation Center. Tin Mountain has organized the race since 1991, according to Dawson Winch of Tin Mountain.
