CONWAY — Critics of the second phase of the North Conway Rec Path say cutting trees this winter in Whitaker Woods is premature, while the president of the Mount Washington Trails Association says the path is moving along well and on schedule and the town planner told the Sun that selectmen would have to make an approval before there is any cutting.

Questions regarding the wisdom of cutting in Whitaker Woods in February and March became apparent after Tuesday’s selectmen’s meeting. During the meeting, Mark Hounsell and his brother, Bill Hounsell, told the board about the problems they see with how the project is moving forward. Selectman Peter Donohoe also shares those concerns.
