CONWAY — Locals, including Kevin Payne of Conway, nurse Doreen Blouin and Conway General Assistance officer BJ Parker of Brownfield, Maine, are bringing supplies to people hard-hit by Hurricane Helene, and Red Cross of Northern New England have been busy marshaling resources to help victims of not only Helene but also Hurricane Milton, which was forecast to hit Florida on Wednesday night as a monster storm.

Hurricane Helene made landfall on Sept. 24 in the Big Bend area of Florida as a Category 4 hurricane, then headed north where its high winds and flooding killed more than 230 people and where it wreaked especial havoc in the western mountains of North Carolina.
