CONWAY — Two local firefighters headed South early Wednesday to assist with the aftermath of anticipated flooding due to Hurricane Florence, which was forecast to hit either South Carolina or Georgia today.

Assisting with the recovery effort will be firefighter Garrett Meador, 29, of the Conway Village Fire Department, and Assistant Chief Chad McCarthy, 48, of the North Conway Fire Department.
