CONWAY — Flattered and surprised to receive the most write-in votes last Tuesday for school district moderator, Mark Hounsell has respectfully declined the position. The school board will take on the task of appointing a moderator as well as a school clerk and school treasurer.
Hounsell, a former school board member and selectman, was the top write-in for a one-year term as school moderator with eight votes. Doug Burnell, who held the post for the past 39 years and retired after the school deliberative meeting last month, garnered six votes.
