Help has arrived from Pennsylvania and is fueled and ready. The crew and helicopter are staging at White Mountain Regional Airport to help battle the Wild River Fire currently burning in the Evans Notch area of the White Mountain National Forest. GORHAM — According to the U.S. Forest Service, the Wild River River, located approximately 7 miles southeast of Gorham in Coos County, in the Wild River drainage, about a mile west of the New Hampshire-Maine border, has expanded to 1,000 acres and is still only 11 percent contained
Additional air resources and suppression resources are en route, according to the Forest Service, in addition to ongoing coordination and support from local and state fire partners. Over 50 personnel and two helicopters are currently assigned to the Wild River Fire. Fire management will continue to coordinate and work together to implement fire suppression strategies, and identify potential values at risk.Â
