FRYEBURG, Maine — Following on the heels of a heated public hearing, selectmen recently tabled a proposed property maintenance ordinance and told the planning board to increase health and safety standards in existing town ordinances.

Selectman Rick Eastman said the town needs something to address “the buildings that are falling down,” prior to the selectmen’s March 28 vote to send the issue back to the planning board.
